Van Don Airport – Vietnam’s first private airport nominated to the list of top regional airports in the world at the World Travel Awards (WTA).

Located in Quang Ninh province, about 50 km from UNESCO-recognized Ha Long Bay, Van Don Airport was opened in December 2018 with an investment of 7.5 trillion VND (324 million USD).

The regional airport category evaluates airports that operate within a small or less populated geographical area. These airports also do not include immigration facilities to handle traffic between different countries.

Started in 1993, the WTA is considered the “Oscar of the travel industry”. WTA is up to the respective regional prizes to shortlist the final list for each category and reveal the winners based on the number of votes on the official website. The award ceremony is scheduled for November 26 in Russia.
