Domestic airlines assess that travel and tourism demand this summer will grow at a high rate, even higher than before the Covid-19 epidemic. Therefore, they have prepared to increase the load.
Only three airlines Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and VASCO are prepared to provide more than 7.1 million seats during the peak summer season from June 1 to August 15, an increase of 10% compared to the same period last year.
According to information from these carriers, with domestic routes, Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and VASCO will provide nearly 6.3 million seats, equivalent to more than 32,400 flights, increased by 10% compared to the same period in 2019, time before the Covid pandemic occurred.
On average, every day during the peak summer tourist season from June 1 to August 15, these three airlines will operate about 430 domestic flights. In which, the routes with the most seats are those between Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, with nearly 160 flights per day. Along with that, there will also be hundreds of flights per day connecting famous tourist destinations such as Phu Quoc, Cam Ranh, Da Lat, Hue, Quy Nhon, Dong Hoi, Tuy Hoa, Con Dao…
With international routes, Vietnam Airlines and Pacific Airlines will provide more than 852,000 seats, equivalent to more than 3,600 flights, only 40% of 2019, because international travel demand has not recovered.
Another airline, Vietravel Airlines, also expects that travel and tourism demand will increase in this summer tourist season and exceed the same time in 2019 so it has planned to increase aircraft and flight frequency to meet market demand.
However, currently, this airline has not provided detailed information because it is applying for slots (hourly takeoffs and landings) from the Civil Aviation Administration. Initial information is that Vietravel Airlines will also focus on flights to key domestic and international tourist destinations.
According to information from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the tourism sector is recovering well. During the holidays of April 30 and May 1 alone, the country had about 5 million domestic tourists, of which 2 million stayed overnight at tourist accommodation establishments.
It is expected that the number of tourists this summer will increase, especially in places with the sea and large entertainment complexes.
