According to information from the Representative Office of the Korea National Administration of Tourism in Vietnam (KTO Vietnam), the number of 7,000 Vietnamese visitors to the country per week was updated 2 weeks ago.
This growth has helped the total number of Vietnamese visitors to Korea in the first eight months of this year to 80,000. In the coming time, the number of visitors may increase even more as the tourism industry enters the peak tourist season in the autumn.
“This year, we expect to welcome about 150,000 Vietnamese visitors. It is estimated that this number will probably be reached because the market is growing better and better,” said Ms. Nguyen Thu Ha, Marketing Director of KTO Vietnam and shared that in 2019, before the Covid-19 epidemic, there were 550,000 Vietnamese visitors to Korea.
Korea is implementing many policies to encourage tourists to come to the country. In which, there is the re-acceptance of multiple travel visas, no regulation on the number of Covid-19 vaccine shots needed for tourists. Recently, the country also abolished the requirement to test for Covid-19 before entering the country.
For the Vietnamese market, one of the key markets of Korean tourism, the Q-code system has a Vietnamese version, making it more convenient for guests to declare information online before departure.
With tourism, in addition to important places in Seoul, Korea is promoting the promotion of local tourist attractions to increase the diversity of tourism products. One of the localities that has been promoted is Gangwon Province in the North of Korea.
In October, the new Korean airline, Fly Gangwon, will open direct flights from Yangyang (Gangwon province) to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. To attract guests, the visa-free policy for group travelers on arrival at Yangyang International Airport, which is currently applied to charter flights, will also be applied to commercial flights. With the visa-free policy, the maximum stay of visitors is 15 days.
