Vietnam confirms 21 new Covid-19 cases Wednesday evening, 20 of them community transmissions, bringing the national tally from the latest outbreaks to 504.
Over 114,000 people are in quarantine – 19,000 in centralized facilities, over 700 in hospitals and the rest at home.

Twenty new community cases of COVID-19 were reported on Wednesday evening in Vietnam, including a baggage handler at HCM City’s Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport, Health Ministry reported.
Wednesday’s sole imported case, “Patient 2071,” is a 31-year-old Indonesian male expert who landed February 7 in Ho Chi Minh City on Singapore Airlines flight SQ178. He was quarantined on arrival, according to a report by VNExpress.
Of the 20 local cases, one was reported in HCMC, one in the northern province of Quang Ninh, four in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai and 14 in the northern Hai Duong Province.
“Patient 2072” is a 29-year-old resident of HCMC’s Tan Binh District who works as a baggage handler for the Vietnam Airport Ground Services Company Limited (VIAGS) at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport, in the same department as another man who tested coronavirus positive earlier.
“Patient 2073” is a 30-year-old woman from Ha Long Town in Quang Ninh.
Four patients, 2074-2077, are women aged 27-39 from Ia Pa District in Gia Lai who already spent more than a week in quarantine.
Thirteen other patients, 2078-2085 and 2087-2091, are also already quarantined residents of Hai Duong.
“Patient 2086,” whose gender and age was unavailable at the time of publishing, tested positive Wednesday after visiting a Hai Duong hospital with fever and cough.
With a new case confirmed in the northern province of Bac Giang in the morning, Vietnam’s Covid-19 community cases for Wednesday reached 21.
Of the 504 domestic transmissions recorded since January 28, Hai Duong has 341, followed by Quang Ninh (54), HCMC (34) and Hanoi (28).
The national Covid-19 tally stands at 2,091 with 1,480 recoveries and 35 deaths. Most of the active patients are in stable health with 33 having tested negative at least once for the novel coronavirus.
