Nine local Covid-19 transmissions were recorded Monday evening in Vietnam, including six in hotspot Hai Duong and three in neighboring Hai Phong.
All of the patients in Hai Duong had been quarantined before being found positive for the coronavirus, and are being treated at the northern province’s field hospitals.
Health officials are conducting contact tracing for the three new cases in Hai Phong City.
The country has been struggling with a new outbreak wave since Jan. 28 after 55 clean days in a row, with 800 community transmissions recorded in 13 localities, including Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
With 617 cases, Hai Duong is now the biggest Covid-19 hotspot, followed by Quang Ninh (60) and HCMC (36).
The nation’s tally has gone up to 2,392 to date, with 35 deaths and 1,717 recoveries.
The total number of people in quarantine is over 120,000, of which 600 in hospital and the rest is either in quarantine centers or at home.
Covid-19 has infected over 111 million people globally and took the lives of more than 2.4 million.
