Authorities in HCM City are looking for two Chinese people who absconded from a local quarantine facility.

The two men, one aged 22 and the other aged 20, are among 11 Chinese people who were found to be illegally staying in HCM City earlier.

The two fled a quarantine site in Cu Chi District on Sunday evening.

Cu Chi District’s authorities have been checking all local guest houses but failed to find them.

Nguyen Huu Hoai Phu, chairman of the district, said that they would have fled to other districts.

At a meeting on the city’s Covid-19 prevention and control, municipal people’s committee Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong called for a rapid search for the men.

According to Phong, HCM City is at high risk of being a hotspot for illegal migrants. The official urged tight control over migrants to detect violators.
