Tips for bringing your pet to Vietnam
The following guides are specific to dog and cat travel and are certainly a lot simpler than you might expect. Do not waste your time and money on agencies and departments that may have never been to Vietnam themselves before. Pet owners only need a veterinary certificate and vaccination record for their pet, and other requirements associated with this certificate vary depending on your airline. For example, if you are flying from the United States, you must sign the health certificate within 10 days of your flight date.
The process includes three main steps as follows:
Step 1: Vaccinate
Pets are required to be vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days before arrival in Vietnam and no more than one year before travel. Next, download the veterinary certificate and ask your accredited veterinarian to fill out the form to certify that the pet is healthy, free of parasites and free of signs of human disease. .
Step 2: Attach “pet vaccination record” to “veterinary certificate”
Pet Immunization Record is a record of all vaccines administered to an animal, including information on the name, place of manufacture, and batch or batch number of vaccine, regardless of the date of use. and vaccine expiry date, if applicable. In addition to the mandatory rabies vaccination, other vaccines are not required. The following are some of the recommended vaccines for dogs and cats.
Dogs: Rabies, Canker sores, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parvovirus and Para influenza.
Cats: Colic, Viral Tuberculitis, Calicivirus, Leukemia and Rabies.
Step 3: Immigration process
Upon arrival in Vietnam, you must present the mentioned documents (veterinary certificate and Pet Immunization Record) to the immigration officer after taking your pet to your baggage claim. After checking the paperwork, they will let you and your pet out of the airport.
There is no quarantine period when you arrive in Vietnam.
Your pet will be placed in a crate for the duration of the flight, so it’s a good idea to place a crate inside your home and put your pet in a kennel a few hours a day before the flight to get them used to the crate. . Do not give medicine to pets because it is not good for their health.
The procedures to get your pet out of Vietnam are pretty much the same. You must have your pet vaccinated and contact the airlines and destination country to ask about other requirements that you need to follow.
