, Nearly 200 Chinese working without permission in Vietnam’s Central Highlands

The labor departments of Vietnam’s Central Highlands provinces of Dak Lak, Kon Tum, and Dak Nong reported on Sunday afternoon that about 200 Chinese workers and professionals were working without work permits at wind power projects there.

In Dak Lak, 69 Chinese experts, who have yet to obtain the permits to work in Vietnam, are working at under-construction wind mill projects in Ea H’Leo and Krong Buk Districts.

The investors of these projects said that they already applied for work permits for the unlicensed Chinese, but so far have not received further instructions from the provincial labor department.

Meanwhile, a leader of the Dak Lak Department of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs blamed the investors for filing incomplete documents.

The provincial labor department is also reviewing Chinese workers at other projects.

In Kon Tum, the 28 Chinese who are working at a wind power project in Dak Glei District have not been granted a work permit either.

In Dak Nong, 102 Chinese workers are working at the Dak N’Drung 1, 2, 3 wind power projects in Dak Song District.

But only one of them has obtained proper documents.

In Gia Lai, the authorities issued work permits to 49 foreigners.

All of the cases mentioned above properly completed the immigration procedures and required quarantine for COVID-19 prevention as per local regulations, according to the provincial labor departments.

Previously, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs proposed provincial and municipal authorities consider deporting foreign workers without work permits or those failing to comply with entry and exit rules applicable to foreigners in Vietnam.
