Cam Ranh International Airport continuously welcomes flights from Korea, Singapore, Russia… is a positive signal for the tourism industry.
In May, the total number of tourists staying in Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa is estimated at 235,000. Of which, international visitors are estimated at 10,000, increasing 402.77% over the same period. This number is just over 50% over the same period in 2020 and nearly 40% in 2019.
The upcoming summer tourist season, hundreds of hotels in Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa are ready to welcome guests. Mr. Tran Van Tung, General Manager of Navada Beach Nha Trang Hotel, said that the hotel has reopened, ready to welcome the wave of summer guests coming to Nha Trang to relax.
“Currently, the preparations to welcome guests are ready. Hopefully, with the positive growth rate of the domestic market and the coming international guests, local hotels will soon overcome the difficult period after the epidemic,” said Tung.
Welcome many international flights
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, Director of Khanh Hoa Tourism Department, since tourism fully opened (March 15), there have been a series of foreign flights to Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa.
“In the context of the epidemic in some countries is still complicated, Cam Ranh International Airport continuously welcomes flights from Korea, Singapore, Russia… This is a positive signal for the local tourism industry,” Ms. Thanh said.
According to a leader of Khanh Hoa Tourism Department, in the first five months of the year, the total number of guests staying was estimated at nearly 700,000 arrivals, an increase of 57.65% over the same period last year, of which international visitors were estimated at 31,826 arrivals, an increase of 74.69 % over the same period.
On May 20, a flight from Incheon International Airport (Korea) landed at Cam Ranh International Airport, bringing nearly 160 passengers to Nha Trang for a vacation.
This is the first Korean delegation to return to Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa after a long hiatus due to the pandemic. This delegation includes representatives of Korean companies returning to Nha Trang City to promote investment and business; the rest are guests who come to relax, play golf in resorts or 3-5 star hotels.
According to a representative of the airline operating the flight, the Cam Ranh – Incheon route (South Korea) will be operated with 3 round-trip flights per week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
“After Nha Trang, we will continue to reopen flights connecting Seoul with Phu Quoc (Kien Giang), Hai Phong. Right in May, the airline will increase the total number of routes connecting Vietnam – South Korea to 6 routes, ready to welcome the wave of tourism between the two countries when Korea officially re-issues short-term tourist visas,” said the airline’s representative.
According to the Director of Khanh Hoa Tourism Department, it is expected that at noon on June 3, the unit will coordinate with Cam Ranh International Terminal Joint Stock Company, Aviation Ground Services Company Limited (AGS) and an airline in the country, organize to welcome the first flight from Singapore to Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa.
Expanding the international visitor market
Along with efforts to exploit traditional tourist markets such as Russia, Korea…, Khanh Hoa tourism industry is strengthening connections to exploit the Indian tourist market.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, for the international market, Khanh Hoa tourism industry will focus on key international markets with close proximity, early recovery and great potential.
“Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa tourism with its own products and services can easily attract tourists such as Russia, Korea, China, Malaysia, India, Singapore… by increasing the implementation of communication and promotion activities to make an impression and attract tourists to Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa, restore this source of visitors as soon as possible,” said Ms. Thanh.
In early May, Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee coordinated with the Indian embassy in Vietnam to organize a tourism conference in Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa and India as a safe, friendly and attractive destination.
Indian Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Pranay Verma, assessed Khanh Hoa as one of the localities that India prioritizes for tourism connectivity and cooperation in the near future.
“The leader of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee also proposed to Vietnam’s airlines to study and open a flight route from India to Khanh Hoa to connect trade and promote tourism development. When there is a direct flight, the exploitation of the Indian passenger market will be very positive,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh.
Recently, representatives of many Korean travel agencies came to Nha Trang to survey tourism products after the Covid-19 epidemic. Here, the Korean partner highly appreciated the recovery of Khanh Hoa tourism, and the two sides agreed from the beginning of July to welcome delegations from Korea to Nha Trang.
“Korea is Nha Trang’s traditional market, now they are about to reopen flights to bring tourists to the resort, proving that the recovery period for international visitors has begun. It is expected that from July, travel companies Korean will officially bring guests to Nha Trang, in the immediate future there will be about 12 groups of guests, each group of 60 guests coming in the months from July to September”, said Mr. Tran Minh Duc, Deputy Director of Long Phu Joint Stock Company, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Travel Association.
