Twice a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ha Long Bay was recently nominated as Asia’s top tourist attraction at the 2021 World Travel Awards.

The nomination list includes a total of 12 tourist attractions in the area. Some other famous places are Angkor Wat (Cambodia), Great Wall (China), Taj Mahal (India), Borobudur Temple (Indonesia), Tokyo Imperial Palace (Japan), or Intramuros (Philippines). .

About 2 hours flight from Hanoi, Ha Long Bay is associated with the legend of the dragon and the fairy and consists of nearly 2,000 limestone islands and islets. The heritage site stands out for the jade-colored waters of the calm bay, the unique formation of karst mountain ranges covered with dense forests and diverse ecosystems.

Thanks to Ha Long Bay, in 2019, Quang Ninh welcomed 14 million tourists, of which foreign visitors were 5.7 million, up 14% over the previous year. The destination also won Asia’s Top Tourist Attraction in 2019.

Winners will be announced during the Asia Awards ceremony in Dubai on October 6, 2021.
