Duong Long Tower (Ivory Tower)
This is a historical relic showing the most prosperous time of the Champa civilization in the 12th century. It is one of the most beautiful Champa Towers in Central Vietnam. Despite being vandalized many times in the past by treasure hunters and locals, the spiers still exude impressive beauty. Duong Long Tower consists of three towers: the middle tower is 24m high and the two sides are 22m high. The attraction of the towers is not only their superior height compared to other Champa architectural works in Binh Dinh, but also the designs carved on stone throughout the complex. Duong Long Tower is made of bricks and the corners are joined by stone with giant engravings showing sacred animals of the Cham Pa people such as Garuda, elephant and eagle. The main door faces East towards the Sun, built of stone 1.5m high. The top half of the tower is built with the same large stones stacked precisely, showing the talent and ingenuity of the Cham Pa people. The wall is decorated with carvings of monks in high hats dancing and singing. The top of the tower is surrounded by lotus petals reaching up to the sky.
