On the evening of September 7, at the World Tourism Awards ceremony in Asia and Oceania in 2022 held in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang was honored as “Asia’s Leading Festival and Event Destination 2022” ”
This is the second time Da Nang has received this prestigious award since 2016.
In this nomination round, Da Nang has surpassed 8 leading destinations in Asia such as Bangkok – Thailand, Beijing – China, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia, Macau, Seoul – South Korea, Shanghai – China, Singapore.

Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh – Director of Danang Department of Tourism said, being honored as “Asia’s Leading Festival Event Destination” not only continues to affirm the city’s prestige but also records Da Nang, Vietnam to the list of modern and safe destinations with many international events on the global tourism map.
Ms. Hanh shared, right after the policy of reopening from mid-March 2022, tourism activities in the city have prospered strongly with many positive signals.
Da Nang attracts visitors with many special events and festivals
The tourism targets have clearly grown, many international activities and events in 2022 will take place such as hot air balloon festival in Da Nang, Ironman 70.3 Vietnam, Asia route development forum – Routes Asia 2022, Enjoy Danang Summer Festival, Danang Golf Tourism Festival 2022…
“With the experience of organizing many international events, we also expect that after this award, Da Nang will continue to organize large-scale international events in the near future,” said Ms. Hanh.
She added that, with the orientation as an event and festival destination, Da Nang also focuses on developing the MICE policy – a type of tourism that combines conferences, seminars and events. After more than a year of pilot implementation, the program has received a positive response from domestic and foreign organizations and business communities. In the coming time, the tourism industry will continue to implement the MICE policy to attract many regional and international events and conferences.
