Binh Dinh is planning to welcome foreign tourists and become the 6th destination of Vietnam to reopen the domestic tourism industry after 2 years of border closure.

Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Binh Dinh province, Mr. Lam Hai Giang, said that it is necessary to connect localities and tourism businesses in restoring and developing Vietnam’s tourism. Binh Dinh is considering the necessary conditions to welcome visitors and plans to only accept those who go on a package tour. To ensure the best experience for tourists, he said the province will make sure the traffic hubs and pick-up procedures are simple but safe.

Provincial Department of Tourism is planning to get ready for the program. The province will focus on East Asia, Southeast Asia and the US markets and ensure the highest flexibility but safety under the Government’s control, said Director Tran Van Thanh.

Binh Dinh received about 200,000 international tourists a year before the pandemic. The number only reached about 77,000 tourists, a decrease of 60% in 2021 and is expected to reach 80,000-100,000 in 2022 if the pandemic is brought under control.

Currently, Vietnam has 5 destinations eligible to welcome foreign tourists: Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Da Nang, Quang Ninh and Quang Nam.
