Although the origin of Banh mi has not been verified, they believe that it first appeared in the 19th century, became more popular in the 20th century, and is now sold everywhere in Vietnam. With a very reasonable price (12,000 – 50,000 VND), Banh Mi is not only a familiar breakfast dish but also a favorite snack at any time of the day. Fodor’s Travel, a famous American travel website, ranked Banh mi in the Top 20 must-try street foods in the world in 2016.
Along with Banh mi, SCMP has named some of the best Asian breakfasts such as dumplings in Sri Lanka, khao soi in Laos and jok in Thailand.
