Vietnam’s Civil Aviation Authority (CVAA) has proposed to suspend all all flights connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City as the nation fights a prolonged Covid-19 wave.

The CVAA has asked Ministry of Transport to stop all regular flights between localities that are under social distancing orders, including Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, VNExpress reported.

Only special flights are flown on air routes between social distancing localities, the CVAA has proposed. While flights to bring workers back to their hometowns can be considered, it would be necessary for the localities to pick up passengers at the airport to test and quarantine them, it said.
